Dryvit Commercial Outsulation Systems
EIFS systems from Dryvit are rigorously tested exterior claddings that provide beauty and protection for the vertical wall surfaces the structure you are designing or building. They are energy efficient, insulated and place insulation on the outside of the wall, where building scientists say it is most effective, essentially serving as a vapor permeable blanket for your building.
They can be installed in either ‘barrier’ or ‘moisture drainage’ configurations, depending upon your project specifications. Both solutions are engineered and tested to perform in all climates on almost all types of commonly construction methods.
Dryvit offers a wide variety of commercial EIFS solutions, including Barrier Systems, Moisture Drainage Systems, Pressure Equalized/Moisture Drainage Systems, and Textured Acrylic Finisshes (TAFS).
Dryvit Barrier Systems
These EIFS products make use of the AquaFlash System, which features a liquid-applied mesh coating that provides seamless protection of wall openings and is superior to “peel and stick” membrane solutions. They protect the substrate with a water resistant barrier called Backstop NT. They accommodate structural movement and shifting by using expanded polystyrene (EPS) which also provides insulation. The base coat and reinforcing mesh provides impact resistance and a barrier to weather, and the finish coat comes in a variety of textures, styles and colors — creating virtually endless creative options for the exterior of your building. Barrier Systems include:
- Outsulation System
- Outsulation PFP System
- Ultralation System
Dryvit Moisture Drainage Systems
The EIFS Moisture Drainage Systems builds on the features of the Barrier Systems by adding a second line of defense against air, moisture, and weather. This is done by air- and water-resistant barriers and channels for additional drainage. Moisture Drainage Systems include:
- Outsulation Plus MD System
- Outsulation MD System
- Outsulation LCMD Systems 1-5
Pressure Equalized/Moisture Drainage Systems
The Dryvit Infinity System provides a pressure-equalized rainscreen EIFS. The assembly incorporates a cavity wall, an air barrier and pressure equalized rainscreen technology into one system. Infinity addresses potential water penetration by using Georgia-Pacific’s Dens-Glass Gold sheathing and silicone sealants from Dow Corning.
Textured Acrylic Finishes (TAFS)
TAFS provide options for stucco, concrete masonry units, tilt up, ICF, and other substrates that may be approved by Dryvit’s Engineering Department. Using TAFS, you can specify a dirt-pickup resistant, durable, high-performance exterior finish that is compatible with many commonly used construction methods. TAFS products include:
- TAFS over Commercial Non-EIF Systems
- TAFS over Koreteck System
- TAFS over Commercial ICF Construction
- E Finishes for Commercial Construction
Dryvit Systems, Inc. is committed to supplying quality products and services to our customers while recognizing the importance of operating our business in an environmentally responsible manner. EIFS products from Dryvit provide energy saving benefits, along with environmental benefits.
The energy efficiency of Outsulation is provided by the expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation board, which increases in efficiency as the thickness of the EPS increases. You can install up to 4″ of EPS on your outside wall, providing an R-Value of 15.4. Since the insulation is placed on the outside of the studs and sheathing, R-Value is not lost due to heat transfer through the studs.
Outsulation Systems are Dryvit’s proprietary exterior insulation and finish systems, and contain the following components:
- Expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation board, which helps to increase the R-Value of your wall insulation
- A fiberglass reinforced base coat increases wall strength
- The textured acrylic finish and available architectural shapes provide creative solutions for exterior beauty
By placing the insulation on the outside of the building, air leaks are sealed and thermal bridging (heat exchange through wood or metal studs) is virtually eliminated, so that more conditioned air stays inside of your building. So if your building is in a cooler climate, more warm air stays inside. And if you live in a warm climate, the cool air stays inside. This means that you will save money on your energy costs.

Dryvit cladding options can help you meet your green design objectives. Dryit has earned ISO 14001 certification and works to ensure their carbon footprint is as small as possible throughout the entire life cycle of their products. A comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment of Dryvit Outsulation systems has shown that the products have significantly less impact on the environment than brick, stucco, and other claddings.
