Air Barrier Systems
Air leakage is the uncontrolled movement of air through the Building Envelope. This movement of air is caused by wind, stack effect, and fan pressures. The combined forces are significant and must be resisted by the air barrier system. Henry offers a variety of solutions to control air leakage. Henry offers a comprehensive line of vapor-permeable and non-permeable, self-adhered or liquid-applied air barrier systems and accessories.
The Blueskin family of membranes consists of sheet applied air and vapor barriers designed to resist air leakage, water, penetration and vapor diffusion. Highly respected and trusted, these membranes are custom matched to the needs of your project and can accommodate virtually any design.
Liquid Applied Air and Vapor Barriers for Cold Climates
Henry’s Air-Bloc products are elastomeric air and vapor barrier systems that remain resistant to rain water penetration. Unlike a damp-proofing product, Air-Bloc 06 Air-Bloc 21 and Air-Bloc 32 are self-sealing and will remain flexible. Air-Bloc 32 is a low VOC system. To complete the system, a Blueskin transition sheet is used at the interface of dissimilar substrates.
Liquid Applied Air and Vapor Barriers for Hot Climates
For this scenario, Henry offers Air-Bloc 32 and Blueskin SA. They can be applied to the “warm” side of the wall to provide an air and vapor barrier in warm climates.
Liquid Applied Vapor Permeable Air Barrier
Not all air barriers are vapor barriers. Henry’s Air-Bloc 07 and 31 are liquid applied vapor permeable air barrier systems, which provide continuous water protection and air tightness, while remaining permeable to the passage of vapor. In this situation, Blueskin is used as a transition membrane to complete the system.
Earn LEED Credits with Henry Products
Henry offers various products and systems that can contribute toward LEED points for your building. They have over 17 different air barrier systems designed to resist uncontrolled air movement through the building envelope. This prevents air leakage and results in lower energy consumption. Products like Air Bloc and Blueskin SA can be used to seal the skin of a building early in the construction process, when the exterior sheathing is installed.
